Airs
& Graces is a flexible group of musicians and actors who offer something
rather different from most ensembles: a programme where words and music are
combined with lively, imaginative and witty presentation and detailed research
of historical programmes. Recent
performances include the 2001 Buxton Festival, Wandsworth Festival and Kenwood
House Music Series. Forthcoming
concerts include Southwold Summer Theatre and Dulwich Picture Gallery.
The
group also devise projects in conjunction with museums and historical houses.
Past projects have included work for English Heritage and the Museum of
London and a number of collaborations with the Royal Pavilion, Brighton. They
also provide the music on CD at the Royal Pavilion.
Reviews:
“The mixture of letters
and music from the period was ideal – entertaining but also historically
relevant and really helped to bring the palace alive for visitors.”
(Cara Bowen, Royal Pavilion, Brighton)
“a well-researched and
well-chosen medley of music and readings, dramatised where appropriate…..
executed with great panache and brio” (Thames
Valley Early Music Newsletter)
